Chosing a Vet is a very important decision, but one that needs to be made as soon as you get your baby home. It is better to make a decision when everything is good and your baby is healthy than to have to make this decision in time of an emergency.
The two links provided above will take you to a list of Veterinarians that have experience with Sugar Gliders. This list is not all inclusive and I would advise you to interview various vets in your area prior to making an appointment. One important aspect when chosing a vet is his/her availability during an emergency.
You should develop a very good relationship with your vet so that you can contact him/her at anytime. Suggies are very good at hiding their illnesses and sometimes they do not show any symptoms until it is an emergency that cannot wait.
You should also have an emergency kit prepared at home. Some items that should be included in this kit includes an e-collar, pedyalite (in case of dehidration), syringes (for administering pedyalite), and a separate cage (in case you have to separate your glider).
Hopefully, you will never have to be in this situation. Remember that knowing your glider is very important when it comes to detecting any illnesses.
Happy Gliding!!!
