JUST SAY NO TO TEETH TRIMMING!!!
Teeth trimming is a huge and controversial topic in the sugar glider community. We are First Coast Sugar Gliders urge you to read the information below before deciding to have your Sugar Gliders' teeth clipped, filed, or floated.
WHY DO OWNERS FILE/FLOAT THEIR SUGGIES TEETH
WHY DO VETS PERFORM THIS ON SUGGIES
Some vets have no experience with sugar gliders and/or exotic animals. Therefore, it is very important that you find a Sugar Glider vet in your area before adopting one. For a list for Vets please click here.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU FILE YOUR SUGGIES TEETH?
First of all, there is no need to file/clip/float your suggies teeth. These animals are not rodents and their teeth do not grow. Clipping, Filing or Floating your glider's teeth means that you are giving someone permission to file their teeth down, thus exposing the nerves in their teeth and causing a lifetie of never ending pain. They can also be exposed to tooth decay and serious infection that can quickly travel through the blood system and kill your glider.
